James and I will be leaving for Japan after the wedding, so naturally, we're hoping that the gifts we're gonna get are either monetary or something small enough to bring with us abroad. A lot has been said about asking for cash gifts. personally, I really don't mind placing it on the invites, despite it being a major faux pas to some people. hey, it's practical and these days practical is the way to go.
with that said, I compiled a list of verses we can use (a big shout out to my co-brides who think the same way as me..Ü):
" there is no better gift than the honor of your presence and fervent prayers.
If we are honored with a gift from you, please know
that we prefer presents we can bring back to (name of COUNTRY). "
--
"your presence in our wedding is more than enough.but if we are honoured to receive a gift from you,
any heartfelt monetary amount is appreciated."
--
"gifts that fit this envelope will be greatly appreciated."
(include a small envelope in the invites)
--
"if you were thinking of giving a gift to help us on our way,
a gift of cash for our dream honeymoon would really make our day.
However, if you prefer to purchase a gift,
feel free to surprise us in your own way."
--
" with all that we have, we have truly been blessed,
so there is no real need for a shopping fest,
but if you desire to give, nonetheless,
a monetary gift is one we suggest. "
--
" we're saving up for our dream home.
any contribution would be greatly appreciated. "
--
" we're flying to _________ for our honeymoon!
we'd love it if you could lighten our finances and give us a treat. "
--
" (Bride's name) and (Groom's name) have considered the options, as guests bearing gifts, will come to considerable exertions and the airline restrictions will also apply to the bride and the groom when home they must fly, in the place of a gift with traditional style, a monetary present would bring many a smile. "
--
"if you feel the need to give the gift that's right,
please keep it small to take on a flight.
regardless of what choice you make,
all we would like to say is to come along and have some fun,
on this our special day!"

from Sharon (w@w):
More than just kisses so far we've shared,Our home has been made with Love and Care,Most things we need we've already got,And in our home we can't fit a lot!A wishing well we thought would be great,(But only if you wish to participate),A gift of money is placed in the well,Then make a wish .... but shhh don't tell!Once we've replaced the old with the new,We can look back and say it was thanks to you!And in return for your kindness, we're sureThat one day soon you will get what you wished for.
if you have more to add to this, please feel free to leave comments. :)
