paying with plastic

Last weekend, I went to a bridal fair and there was this booth marketing credit cards. It took me a while to realize why they were actually there and then it hit me, they were there for couples who opt to pay for their own wedding with plastic. Duh! How slow can I get? Hahaha. I guess I didnt realize it because it wasn't really an option for us. (but that's another story.)

Although, there was just one credit card company in that fair, there are dozens and dozens of companies out there offering credit card services with different perks and advantages. For somebody who only owns one credit card (and an extension card at that) I have no idea which card is better or which card offers more advantages.

To be honest, I’m not really a fan of using plastic. Early on, my mom has taught me not to rely on credit cards. She would always say, if you don’t have the cash to pay for it, then don’t buy it. Hahaha. But nowadays, I think it’s a must to own at least one. I'ts convenient and bit safer to carry compared to cash. You just gotta have that internal strength not to blow off the credit limit in one shopping spree. Hahaha.

As I mentioned, since the country is teeming with credit card companies, it’s a bit hard to choose which one to get. Thankfully I was able to come across this site, www.dealsforcreditcards.com which guides people on which credit card to choose, depending on your needs. The site definitely makes the decision easier, knowledge really is power. =)

Although most credit cards on that site are not really applicable to Manila residents, the general discussion on the difference between the types of credit cards is helpful enough. It helps you shorten your list of choices based on your financial needs.

In my case, I think I’m leaning towards the debit cards. That way, you’ll have the convenience of plastic but at the same time you’ll be able to restrain yourself from spending your entire credit limit. Cool, eh? But then again those cash back offers are a bit hard to beat. ahahaha. =)

Decisions. Decisions.
